The Affiliate Conference, the biggest event for affiliate experts in the Czech Republic, was held for the twelfth time. On 17 May 2018, around 150 professionals and enthusiasts from the field of affiliate marketing met in the Café Louvre at Národní třída in Prague. The lecturers were experts on SEO, cryptocurrency, Facebook marketing and GDPR.
This year we slightly changed the agenda by starting with four workshops before luchtime, where online retailers presented backstage information, trends and plans for the future. The workshops were held by our advertisers Footshop, Freshlabels, Decathlon and Pilulka.
At 11:30, Robert Studeny (COO & Founder, VIVnetworks.com) opened the conference by giving a a warm welcome, and stating that affiliate marketing is an increasingly important marketing tool which more and more retailers are acknowledging and employing.
The first lecturer, Honza Bartoš (Facebook Marketing Specialist), introduced us to creating and managing Facebook campaigns, finding the right direction to achieve the company's goals, and other communication options. Jiří Krejčík (Internet marketing consultant with a main focus on SEO) zoomed in on voice search and visual search, their future prospects and whether the online retailers are ready for them.
After lunch, Dominik Stroukal (CEO of Bitcoin Consulting) provided insight into the advantages and disadvantages of cryptocurrency and how it can be connected to affiliate marketing. The next lecture was given by Lukáš Balek (organizer of GDPRlive.cz), who introduced us to GDPR, showed practical examples of changes connected to this regulation and explained how CJ.com handles it.
The next speaker, Petr Novák (Travel Bible) described how he and his colleague build the Travel Bible project, what are the current travel trends and spoke about their future plans.
After the coffee break, Daniel Nytra (marketing consultant focused on sales automation, inbound marketing, and SEO) explained how the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project (AMP) can help your site. He explained what AMP is and how important it is for a website load speed. Last but not least, Jiří Štastný (affiliate and market executive in NOTINO) introduced us to NOTINO's strategy of using affiliate marketing, what are the best-selling products in the different countries via affiliate marketing and outlined their future plans.
After the lectures, the participants got a chance to see the hockey game Czech Republic – USA from the 2018 Ice Hockey World Championship, which we eventually lost.
The afterparty and the networking lasted late into the evening and the participants in the conference had the opportunity to get to know each other and socialize over a glass of wine.
