Affiliate marketing basics
Affiliate marketing is a performance-based online sales channel built on commission payments for completed orders. It helps e-shops increase revenue and bring in new customers.
Affiliate partnerships bring in new customers, increase revenue, open up a new form of advertising and help optimize online advertising costs. Our data and experience show that affiliate typically accounts for around 8–15 % of an e-shop’s online revenue.
A partner can essentially be anyone who runs or directly creates web content (for example a blog, an online magazine, a discount portal, an influencer, a price comparison site or a media house). This partner or publisher drives traffic directly to the e-shop’s website, where the customer completes the order. The partner is then paid a pre-agreed commission, and only for orders that the customer accepts, pays for and does not return.
An advertiser is an e-shop that offers a commission on orders placed by customers referred to the e-shop by an affiliate partner. Take a look at our affiliate catalog for a list of the e-shops we work with.
An affiliate manager is a dedicated specialist focused on a specific segment or market. They help advertisers/e-shops achieve the best possible results and revenue. They connect advertisers with partners/publishers, handle partner acquisition, provide technical support, optimize the program based on the advertiser’s goals, help with order validation and much more. Their main objective is to meet the advertiser’s goals.

E-shop expansion abroad
VIVnetworks is the strongest affiliate network in Central and Eastern Europe and, at the same time, part of the global CJ.com network. Thanks to local teams, in-depth knowledge of individual markets and an extensive publisher database, it helps e-shops scale their affiliate programs across Europe and beyond.
The Czech Republic and Slovakia are among VIVnetworks’ strongest markets. The network has long-standing relationships here with a large number of local publishers, price comparison sites, cashback services, coupon websites, content partners and influencers. Backed by a strong team of more than 45 experts in Prague, VIVnetworks can provide local program management, partner communication and performance optimization.
Poland is one of the largest e-commerce markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Here, VIVnetworks draws on local market knowledge through its team of experts in its Kraków offices, contacts with Polish publishers and experience running campaigns for international e-shops. For advertisers, the key factors are the right commission setup, communication in Polish and selecting the partners best suited to their segment.
In Hungary, VIVnetworks works with local partners and specialists who know the specifics of the market, the language and customers’ shopping behavior. The affiliate program can be tailored to local publisher types, performance targets and customer expectations.
Romania and Bulgaria are among the growing e-commerce markets of South-Eastern Europe. Here, VIVnetworks relies on a local team, knowledge of local publishers and experience with performance campaigns. It helps e-shops with partner acquisition, setting up communication and gradually growing revenue through the affiliate channel.
VIVnetworks also covers markets such as Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and other countries in the region. Thanks to its local knowledge of the environment, it can recommend suitable partner types, set realistic expectations and help e-shops enter markets where e-commerce is still growing.
Thanks to its connection with CJ.com and Publicis Groupe, VIVnetworks can also help e-shops enter Western European markets such as Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom or the Nordic countries. Advertisers can thus combine VIVnetworks’ local support in Central and Eastern Europe with the broader international reach of CJ.com.
If an e-shop operates in multiple markets, VIVnetworks helps coordinate local affiliate activities within a single CJ.com technology and reporting environment. This gives the advertiser a clearer overview of their expansion, lets them compare the performance of individual countries and, at the same time, benefit from local partner knowledge in every market.
